Introduction

DropNote ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address and optional display name when you create an account
  • User Content: Notes you create, including text content
  • Business Profile: Business name, category, and logo (for business accounts only)

Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: Your precise location when dropping or viewing notes. We use location to show notes near your current location, enable you to drop notes at specific locations, and send notifications when you're near unread notes (if enabled).
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the app, including features used and time spent

Camera and Photos

  • Camera: Used for AR (augmented reality) features and QR code scanning. We do not store camera footage.
  • Photo Library: Access to save QR codes only. We do not access or upload your existing photos.

Contacts

Used only to find friends who also use DropNote. Contact data is processed locally and not uploaded to our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the DropNote service
  • Show you notes based on your location
  • Enable note sharing between users
  • Send push notifications about nearby notes
  • Improve and optimize our app
  • Respond to your requests and support needs
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud infrastructure provider
  • We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Account passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • We implement Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access authorized data

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data:

  • With Other Users: Notes you mark as public or shared are visible to intended recipients
  • Service Providers: We use Supabase for backend services, subject to their privacy policy
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: View the personal data we hold about you
  • Delete: Delete your account and associated data through the app settings
  • Location: Disable location services in your device settings (some features will be limited)
  • Notifications: Disable push notifications in your device settings

Data Retention

  • Active account data is retained while your account exists
  • When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days
  • Anonymous usage analytics may be retained for service improvement

Children's Privacy

DropNote is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
